Psoriasis is a common skin condition that affects 2-3% of the general population. This equates to over 125 million people worldwide and an estimated 1 million Canadians.
Psoriasis can affect people at any stage of life, but the majority experience onset between 15 to 35 years of age⎯about 33% of individuals develop it before 20 years of age and 10-15% of individuals develop it before 10 years of age.
Psoriasis affects both genders equally. It also occurs in all racial groups, but at varying rates.
